As soon as you start going to the gym every day and try to look like a movie star, you’re going down a worrisome track. [laughs] Being an English guy, you get a lot more breaks. You’re allowed to look a little worse. It’s that thing about English teeth.

At Harry Potter screen test I lied, and said I played football and snowboard. In reality, as a good Englishman, I can’t do nothing more than billiards and darts. Before shooting New Moon, I discovered boxing. It improved my posture and attitude.

Perfect definition. Not for the chic, but for the homeless. I’m wandering through New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, London, from one year and a half. If you have many houses (or hotels), it is like you haven’t anyone. All I need is in three cases. Always ready.
— On his “homeless chic” style.

I only have a few things I really like. And I’m always en route, away from washing machines. Why am I even telling you that? Ah, something else, I rarely brush my hair. My dad always wanted to brush my hair when I was little. I hated it. Now I sound like a complete freak.

I was a loner in school. But you know what? It’s a compliment and the best thing that could have happened to me. When you are different from everybody else, it helps to be creative. [thinking] Maybe my point of view is a bit too romantic.

It was after a period of signing 500 signatures, and one of [the fans] just came up. You kind of get 10 seconds with each person and you never really say anything, and I kind of got bored of saying, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ And [the fan] said in her 10 seconds, ‘What can I do to get your attention?’ I was like, ‘Um, just take your clothes off.’ And she stood there and frantically started taking her clothes off and got dragged out of the room by security. I never felt more terrible.

I loved driving around L.A. I know not a lot of people say that, but if you don’t have to get anywhere, L.A. is the best place to drive ’round in. I used to have this little car, a convertible … and I really do miss doing that, as the sun is going down, driving over the mountains. It’s a great thing and I kind of do miss that a little bit. It’s not really the same thing when you’ve got 10 cars following you.

I felt pretty goofy stepping out into the sunlight in front of 2,000 people in a town square, ripping my clothes off. I was essentially doing a striptease. But here’s the irony, it was also one of the moments where I’ve really felt closest to people’s emotional attachment to Edward. There were so many extras in that scene who were Twilight fans who had flown in just to be a part of it. It was a moment where I’ve felt the whole weight of anticipation, and I guess responsibility as well, of being Edward, for all the people who were kind of so obsessed with the stories. It was quite uplifting and it was also very nerve-wracking.
