“I think 26 is the turning point. I’ve got to make up for 10 years of living like a degenerate. I’ve suddenly become conscious of being unhealthy. You’ve spent every bit of free time since [the age of ] 15 in a pub. And suddenly you’re like, ‘Oh God, I don’t want to be this grey ghost sitting there with a pot belly. I’ve got to get it together.’” —Robert Pattinson (x)
“David [Cronenberg] tells me the night before, ‘I’m fully expecting some boos’. I was literally like, ‘Why are you telling me this?’” —Robert Pattinson on the Cosmopolis screening in Cannes.
“Originally, the sex scene with Juliette was supposed to happen in a hotel room, but David found it more interesting for it to happen in the limo. You have to ask yourself a question: how do you film, with success, a sex scene in a limo? Well, you end up bumping yourself everywhere in the car *[laughs]. The worst is that I met Juliette Binoche, who is one of my favorite actresses, right before filming the scene. And 5 minutes later, we were writhing in the limo… Very strange. But yes, it was more appropriate in that space.” —Robert Pattinson on his scene with Juliette Binoche in Cosmopolis.
“I’m going to do a movie about The Band, the one that played with Dylan: a beautiful script about the nature of songwriting. I’m preparing a thriller too, with a beautifully written script too. It doesn’t have a director yet. I’m filming another movie with Cronenberg but I don’t know when he wants to start filming. It’s going to be his first American one and he promises it’s going to be very strange.” —Robert Pattinson on his next films.
“I don’t like people thinking that they know me. You do all you can to surprise people. And hopefully some people will find that interesting.” —Robert Pattinson
“Filming Cosmopolis with Cronenberg changed something in me. It gave me balls. [laughs] I have five projects lining up right now that follow the path the movie opened for me. Before, I spent my time doubting myself. As soon as I read a script that I liked, I was working myself up, asking myself if I was good enough. Now, I tell myself: ‘Fuck it! If they want to hire you, go!” —Robert Pattinson for Premiere Magazine
